sc – single crochet

Sorry if you can’t see what I’m doing very well; I try to keep my hands in frame but sometimes they slip out of frame. And no, this is not the rate I normally crochet at. The video is sped up.

DIY Rose Napkin

How to fold a cloth napkin into an elegant rose!

Estimated time: 1-2 min

Here is a video to show you how to make it, along with a step-by-step tutorial.

Step-by-step Tutorial:

1. Take your cloth napkin and spread it out. Put two corners together to create a triangle.

    2. Start rolling the bottom of the triangle towards the top, until you have about a hands width left. It will kind of look like a boat.

    3. Turn the napkin so the left point of the “boat” is pointing towards you. Take the point that is towards you and start rolling it.

    4. Take the tail and tuck it into the roll as shown. This is the trickiest part, so it is OK if you don’t get it right away! The tail also has a tendency to spring out and unroll your roll, so make sure to tuck it down in there.

    5. Next, put your roll on it’s face so the floppy spike-like part is sticking up. Find the two points and separate them, pulling them down flat.

    6. Lastly, flip your roll over. Now you’ve got your very own rose napkin for the next time you have a fancy party!

    DIY Barnacles

How to make your very own barnacles in 4 easy steps!

    Estimated time: 30 mins

    You will need:
    -Egg cartons
    -Paper bowl(s)
    -Low-temp hot glue gun
    -LOTS of hot glue sticks

NOTE: When I made barnacles, I used around five or six glue sticks for one bowl, so make sure to have lots of hot glue sticks before you start!

    1. First, you are going to need to cut up your bowl(s) into either halves or quarters, or both.

      2. Next, take an egg carton and rip the extra pieces off so you are left with the egg holders. Then, rip the egg holders into singles as shown.

      3. Then, take your egg singles and use the low-temp hot glue gun to glue an egg single onto the bowl as shown. Feel free to rip the egg singles to make them fit as you please, and it’s OK if you don’t cover every square inch of the bowl!

      4. Keep gluing the egg singles onto the paper bowl until you have something that resembles barnacles!
